GRIMSBY PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION

GRIMSBY PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATIONGRIMSBY PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION

About us

The Grimsby Pickleball Association is a not-for-profit group operated and cared for by volunteers. It was created in 2022 by a group of avid pickleball players working with the Town of Grimsby to support the growth of pickleball in the area.  Starting from playing on an off-season ice pad marked with two courts, play has grown to attract many new and experienced pickleball players. In the summer of 2022, the Town of Grimsby constructed four new pickleball courts at Mayfair Park. The courts are enjoyed by both non-member and GPA member players.

Vision Statement

To be recognized as a welcoming association with extensive programs to grow the sport for social and competitive play for all skill levels.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote the sport of pickleball for all skill levels and build community. To foster an inclusive organization that encourages learning, improvement and fair play in a fun, safe and welcoming atmosphere.

CODE OF CONDUCT

1. BE ON TIME

Your sessions have a beginning and ending time.  Members rely on each other to show up and be on time - a player down is a huge disadvantage even if it is only a few minutes! You need to respect the booked courts times for all players.

2. RESPECT OTHERS- PLAYERS, VOLUNTEERS, FACILITATORS

There is zero tolerance for disrespect or violence between players, volunteers or facilitators. Always conduct yourself in a manner that promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of others with consideration and respect.

3. RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT

Respect the courts and surrounding park and neighborhood. Keep the courts clean and litter free. No smoking, gum, food or beverages (other than water) on the courts.

4. FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE GAME

Remember, we are playing a set sport and we cannot create our own rules or regulations.

5. COMMUNICATION

It sounds simple... but it can go a long way. We encourage open communication. Listen more than you talk. That said, please feel free to share your ideas with a court captain or board member anytime.

6. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP

Maintaining good sportsmanship is fundamental to a fun and competitive game . Players must always exhibit good sportsmanship and encourage others to do the same. Always conduct yourself in a manner that is fair, honest, encouraging, supportive and positive.

7. NO COURSE LANGUAGE

Foul language has no place on the pickleball courts and will not be tolerated.

This is a good sign...
